Sun on a Rainy Day

Even though times have been a bit sad of late, I did get really, really excited when I saw that my 'Favorite Find' made it's way onto Modlife, Modcloth's blog. Check it out if you'd like!

Stylin' Through the Sad

My apologies for the delay in posting. I've been really excited to share this pleated skirt and jean button-up for ages, but a rather debilitating loss in my family hindered my desire to dress up and have my picture taken. My cat, Milo, who jumped out of a box of orange tabbies and into my arms when I was eight years old, passed away recently. Anyone who knew him adored his loving, humorous, and mellow personality, and for me, he was more than just a feline family member, but an emblem of home and comfort. I wish I could have been there to say my goodbyes, but simply couldn't come home from Edinburgh. Why did it have to be the one year I'm living in Europe? Skype served as my only method to see him one last time. When he passed, I was video chatting with my mom while she held him, and he got antsy, so she set him down in his favorite spot and continued to talk to me. There, with my voice in the background, as my father pet him, he slipped away. His family was there, and I suppose if I couldn't hold him one more time, it was the best way for him to go.

I'm not sure why I'm putting this on here for the internet to see...but it is oddly cathartic, so thank you for reading. As for the ensemble (an odd cowboy/schoolgirl amalgamation), I'll just sort of let it speak for itself.

Verdurous Glooms and Winding Mossy Ways

Summer sale season is here and boy did I make a killing! This dress here was originally what I had wanted for a birthday present back in March, but chose to opt for the blazer instead due to, what I felt, was severe over-pricing on Urban's part. No longer! This whimsical, vintage-inspired number was a mere 19 quid, as was another little black dress that I will be showcasing soon. I also got a cute pleated waist skirt for 5 quid and I can't wait to pair it with various socks and cardigans. The leather bag, which I've been staring at lovingly for the past few days, was 70% off at Accessorize! I'm feeling very contented with my shopping binge, though it means I probably can't rationalize another purchase for the rest of the summer. Nor will I need to! (I've never used so many ! in my life)

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I figured I'd make a little ex-patriot post to console myself for the severe lack of barbecue chicken and potato salad on this first Independence Day away from home (perhaps....a true sign of my own independence...?). So here we have the most patriotic ensemble I could assemble. Apparently it's incredibly warm back home today, but Edinburgh is decidedly chilly and OBSCENELY windy. Also, the Scots aren't really as excited about today as I am. Eeeek. I think I'll spend the rest of the day watching 'John Adams' (my favourite show ever) (hence the Join, or Die flag) whilst drinking bud and attempting to make burgers on my pathetic excuse for a stove. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

I'm On Watch for a Striped Up Swatch

Swatch post number two! Everyone loves stripes and hey, it seems that no matter how trends turn they never go out of fashion. This here is my little collection (or at least what I brought with me to Scotland). A girl needs her stripes...and here we have a dress, shorts, and shirts of a few varieties. The only thing I feel is severely lacking in my collection is the presence of a navy/white striped 3/4 sleeve top. They're so huge right now. Hmm...I might need an H&M trip....
