Mended Vintage

I recently purchased this orange and brown 'Miss Lewis' (a popular 60s brand) waist skirt and, through some creative button mending, managed to return it to it's former glory. I fell in love with the quirky herring bone-esq pattern of the wool and simply couldn't part with it. A 10 percent student discount sealed the deal. Why does vintage shopping always feel a bit like buying a rescue animal?

Skirt: Armstrong's Vintage Clothes Emporium; Compass: UO graduation present from my dear Kate; Tank: H&M; Shoes: Steve Madden (via a DSW sale); Cardigan: Costco; Socks: Target; Clutch: my nana; Ring/Necklace: various Indian stores

Thank you for the comment! I am now more angry than ever at all my piles of revision 'cos they are PREVENTING ME FROM READING ALL YOUR BLOG ENTRIES. argh! (And they're driving me a wee bit crazy, in case you didn't notice :P) But your blog seems absolutely lovely - I especially adore fashion blogs in the uk because at least we have the same shops!! Anyway, love the skirt (I never manage to find anything good in vintage shops, so congrats) and I adore those shoes. And I'm sorry about the ramble. Like I said, work is driving me mad xxx

What a swell find beauty queen! That skirt is rockin... way to use those sewing skills! The pockets are too good with that pattern... Also I'm in love with that necklace- so tiny and very sweet.

Wow, I am so so glad to see the photos. I like your skirt and shoes. I am sorry but what made me ecxited was the photo shot place. I knew where you are by the first picture. The Mound. I used to live in Edinburgh and I miss Edinburgh at this time of year.

I love the skirt, and it does feel like I am doing something good for the world when I thrift or vintage shop too. :)
