Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I figured I'd make a little ex-patriot post to console myself for the severe lack of barbecue chicken and potato salad on this first Independence Day away from home (perhaps....a true sign of my own independence...?). So here we have the most patriotic ensemble I could assemble. Apparently it's incredibly warm back home today, but Edinburgh is decidedly chilly and OBSCENELY windy. Also, the Scots aren't really as excited about today as I am. Eeeek. I think I'll spend the rest of the day watching 'John Adams' (my favourite show ever) (hence the Join, or Die flag) whilst drinking bud and attempting to make burgers on my pathetic excuse for a stove. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Dress: H&M; Scarf: Vintage; Earrings: Accessorize; Shoes: Steve Madden via DSW; Headband: Top Shop; Blazer: UO (of course...I only wear it in literally every post)

1) Love your dress!
2) That John Adams mini series is SO good. Somehow I got lucky and my branch of the library had every disk in. My husband and I watched them almost in one sitting. It really brings the history to life, makes it feel more real, and tells stories we were never taught in school.
3) Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th. Not too sure where in the States you're from, but here in Mass it's well over 90! Phewph. Love the dress and those SHOES (going directly to DSW and ebay to see if I can find a pair!).

Haha, I'm going to be an expat in China next 4th and expect it to be equally anticlimactic. But I do plan on a cute outfit for the occasion, even if I am the only one who cares!

Great vintage scarf - I have a big hat box full of silk scarves (from various relatives), as they're so easy to wear. Great shoes too!
I think Edinburgh is a lovely city, but you're right.. it can be very cold.
Have you ever been to Armstrongs vintage shop?

Hi Molly, I was wondering if I could email you about Edinburgh? I will be studying abroad there for the entire year. I would love to hear your tips! I can't find your email on your blog, so I was wondering if you could shoot me an email at quintessentiallyquirky@gmail.com and then we could go from there? I would really appreciate your help/advice!

I lived in Glasgow for a year and a half and I think it was never not windy. My German friends and I would huddle inside with the heating on and look at the Scottish girls going by wearing next to nothing, AND with incredibly straight and well behaved hair. I think I looked windswept and weather beaten the entire time I was there! And not nearly as chic as you do, in those lovely shoes!
