Stylin' Through the Sad

My apologies for the delay in posting. I've been really excited to share this pleated skirt and jean button-up for ages, but a rather debilitating loss in my family hindered my desire to dress up and have my picture taken. My cat, Milo, who jumped out of a box of orange tabbies and into my arms when I was eight years old, passed away recently. Anyone who knew him adored his loving, humorous, and mellow personality, and for me, he was more than just a feline family member, but an emblem of home and comfort. I wish I could have been there to say my goodbyes, but simply couldn't come home from Edinburgh. Why did it have to be the one year I'm living in Europe? Skype served as my only method to see him one last time. When he passed, I was video chatting with my mom while she held him, and he got antsy, so she set him down in his favorite spot and continued to talk to me. There, with my voice in the background, as my father pet him, he slipped away. His family was there, and I suppose if I couldn't hold him one more time, it was the best way for him to go.

I'm not sure why I'm putting this on here for the internet to see...but it is oddly cathartic, so thank you for reading. As for the ensemble (an odd cowboy/schoolgirl amalgamation), I'll just sort of let it speak for itself.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. And see no problem with you sharing it here. Sometimes writing it out can be the best coping mechanism. I lost my dog (that we had since I was 8) on the first day back at college this year and it was rough to come back home for Thanksgiving and not find him there.

I do love your button up though!

PS I dunno if you got my earlier comment. But I will be studying abroad in Edinburgh this year and I would really love to get in touch
with you about the city. My email is quintessentiallyquirky@gmail.com

I am so sorry. I lost my dog recently, so I understand what you're going through. He looks like a lovely cat.
You look so nice in these photos, by the way, your socks are amazing.
I hope you feel better, I do not underestimate the loss of a pet at all.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a beloved pet is so difficult, especially when you grew up together.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat! My dog that I had growing up passed away this year too, and since I live in another state I didn't get to say goodbye. :( Losing pets is the worst.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. My own cat died when I was living abroad and it was terribly sad; I'd had her since I was nine. It's such a shame their lives are so much more accelerated than ours.

Oh no, this post spoke directly to my darkest fears... when I go to China in a few days, I'll be leaving behind my own super aged kitty that I've had since I was 8 as well!! So sorry for the loss of your furry companion, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to me.
