Syntax and Sycorax

I found this bizarre half pleated skirt, half acrylic fabric number at a thrift store in Vermont. It's clearly hand-made and an odd piece indeed. I've tried it on all different levels of my waist, though somewhere between empire and natural seems the most successful. Pairing it with the studded belt segments the ensemble well, as do the slightly off-matching green tights.

I think I'm going to do a little photo shoot with Wendell bun today using my new camera. He's in need of some glamor shots, I think.

Lumos Maxima

Photobucket

Behold my first post using my brand new, Black Friday discounted Canon Rebel T2i! I love my little Panasonic point-and-shoot, but ohhhhhhh man....is this thing a work of art. Bretton and I still need to read the manual cover to cover, because so help me God I will know every facet of this damn camera, but I must say that it's pretty hard to get a bad shot out of it. Thank you, graduation money!

The outfit here was actually a lot cheaper than it looks. The little velvet dress is from Target, as are the tights, the shoes are from F21, and the coat is some silly thing I got in 8th grade when I wasn't quite cool enough to pull it off. Overall, I like the edginess of the look, which is a good change from my usual whimsical get-ups. One needs to maintain some level of unpredictability. Thanks to Bretton for taking the pictures!

The Chimerical Grove

Since unemployment is proving to be the death of me, I've been trying to keep busy on my Etsy. Here are some of the pieces I have so far. Check it out, if you'd like. I'll definitely make custom clips if anyone has a request. I'm also thinking of doing a giveaway soon, so be on the look out for that. Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday :D

Caledonia, You're Calling Me

Today I was missing Bonnie Scotland something fierce, likely do to the cold, rainy weather, so I decided to give myself a little fashion therapy. I pulled out my wellies and my mother's kilt (which she purchased on my parent's honeymoon in Scotland many years ago), and set out into my rather chilly backyard. I decided to pair the kilt with relatively simple pieces to let it shine (plaid can be tricky). I got the longer necklace, which features a bit of a deer antler, on a pit stop to a Native American museum in New Hampshire. It's always nice to take little detours on long road trips, especially if I have my buddy Bretton in the car. I may miss Edinburgh every five seconds, but there is a lot to be said for having the freedom of a car once again.
